Friendology 101 - Grades 1 to 6 ($995.00 Including GST)
Friendology 101 enables teachers to create a school culture that promotes positive mental health, wellbeing, and kindness. Using kids’ language for kids’ problems and a practical, step-by-step approach, Friendology 101 teaches children how to work through challenges independently and make decisions that support happy, healthy relationships.
Friendology 101 is an in-school curriculum designed for educators to integrate into their Health & Wellbeing programming. The program meets many learning objectives outlined in the Australian Curriculum and national health curriculums around the world. The development of interpersonal skills, emotional literacy, and conflict-resolution are central to the URSTRONG programming which aims to improve the wellbeing of children. The framework and methodology aligns with the proactive principles of Positive Education, teaching children the skills to “flourish” and create a positive, harmonious relationships that support learning and wellbeing.
Guided by a digital presentation delivered by teachers and created specifically to appeal to children, students will come to understand and learn how to grow and maintain healthy relationships.
Friendology 101 is divided into two sequential programs to target social-emotional skills at each developmental stage:
- An introductory 4 session module for students in grades 1 & 2
- A comprehensive 8 session module for students in grades 3 to 6 (with age-appropriate recommendations and extension activities to accommodate each grade group)

Friendology 101 was created by a teacher (our Founder, Dana Kerford) for teachers. A teacher who knows how busy the life of a teacher can be and how little extra time teachers have! Therefore, this program requires very little preparation. It has been designed to be a complete package for easy implementation with lesson plans that are short and to-the-point, click and play slideshows, clear teaching notes and summaries of the key concepts. This then allows the students to do the rest!
The Friendology 101 curriculum includes:
- Facilitator’s Guide
- Lesson Plans
- Digital Presentation with detailed Teaching Notes
- Pre & Post Assessments, including a URSTRONG Impact Report following the completion of the program, which clearly articulates what students have learned!
- Handouts, quizzes, art activities, music
- Personal & social experiments to apply their skills
- Links to videos & movement activities to target all learning styles
- Customizable letters to Parents and Students
Each lesson plan follows the same procedure and is laid out in an easy-to-understand format, including a lesson objective, outcomes, and materials required. Teaching notes accompany the slideshow, so that teachers can follow along step-by-step with suggested activities and questions. Real-life scenarios are presented throughout the program, used in role-plays and can be easily adapted to suit the needs of your students.
Throughout the sessions there are a number of optional activities which allow you to expand on the topics presented. You can choose to dig in deeper to various concepts as you see fit and truly customise the experience for your students and the issues they are facing!
This skills-based SEL (social-emotional learning) program teaches students a new “language” that they connect with; giving them a voice that allows them to articulate their experiences and get the help they need to foster healthy friendships.
